A short while later, as a fork in the road appeared in the distance, Grace commanded.
“Jessie, let everyone know I’ve moved.”
“Yes, Princess.”
“Don’t get hurt. Join us in Richmond as soon as you’re done.”
Jessie’s freckled nose twitched.
“Don’t worry. I’ll finish the job and return even faster than you, Princess, in a flash.”
Grace nodded as if she believed her, and Jessie leaped out of the carriage.
“Whoa?!”
Joseph raised his voice in surprise, but Jessie waved her right hand over her head and quickly disappeared into the distance. Grace watched her receding back and said to the two men.
“Jessie will join us after she’s completed the necessary task.”
Even at the entrance, Jessie moved like the wind through the rugged mountain range and soon disappeared from sight. It was not the movement of a mere maid. She was clearly a well-trained individual.
‘Just as His Highness waited for the time, so have I.’
Walter turned to look at Grace. Her grape-like eyes, no matter how many times he looked at them, felt harmless, but the plan she recited with that innocent face was elaborate and bold.
Moreover, they had a common enemy. Walter had no choice but to hold onto Grace.
‘A sword isn’t just what you see, is it.’
Grace Taylor and a sword.
‘Too sharp a sword can cut the hand that wields it.’
The old knight’s advice flashed through his mind, and at the same time, a soft sensation seemed to tickle his lips. Walter turned to the front and rubbed his lips with the back of his hand.
The wind passing through the forest carried a faint metallic smell. Walter narrowed his eyes and paid attention. In the distance, he could see the Richmond Knights waiting for him.
