The Mansion Awaits Spring
Chapter 49
“Anyone hearing you would think you’re touching something strange. I’m touching your cheek, your cheek. Your cheeks are soft too.”
“You touched my chest, too.”
“That was a mistake while I was looking for your cheek.”
“Wow, you made a mistake searching for a cheek on a chest?”
“Your cheeks were higher than I thought, so I miscalculated the height.”
“Is that even humanly possible? No, it’s not.”
In the darkness, the two had become explicit, to put it bluntly, and brave, to put it kindly.
They continued to bicker, but Fezin’s arm remained wrapped around her waist to ensure April didn’t stray from the radius where he could feel her warmth, and April didn’t exactly try to break free from that arm either.
Their time together ended only when Fezin, unable to endure the darkness any longer, opened the door.
The sun had already risen enough for them to clearly recognize each other’s faces.
Only after stepping outside could April realize to some extent how much Fezin had been controlling himself in that darkness.
Fezin muttered as if making a vow to himself.
“I’m on my hyung’s side. You’re right. There hasn’t been a single moment when I wasn’t.”
“I know.”
“I’m not on your side.”
Watching Fezin talk to himself like that, April let out a scoffing laugh and spoke.
“I don’t like you. But I still feel desire.”
“Why are you saying my lines? In the first place, you don’t look like you have any desire right now. Maybe you just want to make my hyung angry.”
“That’s also true.”
April nodded, then soon asked.
“I have a reason like that, at least. But what about you?”
“Mine is pure lust. Can’t you tell by looking?”
“How dare you attach the word ‘pure’ to that?”
“I attached it to a very appropriate place. There’s absolutely no emotion involved.”
“You hate me.”
“Aside from that, there’s nothing.”
Fezin pushed April away as he answered, but she took a step closer instead.
Unable to bring himself to blame April, Fezin muttered under his breath.
“Kick me so I can snap out of it.”
“Thanks.”
“Don’t hit too ha—”
The moment he heard her thanks, Fezin made an urgent request, but April had already kicked his leg with all her might.
Fezin sank to the ground, groaning in pain.
“Ah, I feel dizzy.”
“Stop exaggerating and get up.”
“Exaggerating? You’re seriously underestimating your own strength.”
Fezin grumbled, but it was true that the pain had snapped him back to his senses.
April turned her head and laughed, seemingly finding his suffering amusing.
Despite his grumbling, Fezin held out his arm to escort her.
April linked her arm with his and walked up the stairs.
At the entrance to the second floor where her room was located, Fezin said his goodbye.
“Sleep well.”
“Why are you only taking me this far?”
“Well, you can walk that short distance by yourself.”
“You’re telling me to be polite.”
“This much is enough.”
As they spoke, their gazes kept drifting to the places they wanted to see.
It was mostly their faces, but they also checked each other’s bodies with interest. The heat didn't dissipate easily.
Eventually, April spoke up.
“Just… stay. In my room.”
“Can’t you see I’m holding back right now? Don’t provoke me.”
“Think of it as simply getting what we both need. No matter who we marry in this world, we can’t be together. The Dieus Head of the Family would oppose it.”
“That’s true.”
“I also absolutely cannot stand my child being an illegitimate one. So I have no intention of having an heir with you.”
“Of course. If that happened, the Lunos Dowager would drag me to my grave.”
“Exactly.”
“So we just get what we need from each other.”
“Just for today. Today is probably the only time we’ll want to sleep together.”
“You’re absolutely right. By tomorrow morning, we’ll regret it immediately and pretend it never happened for the rest of our lives.”
“Yes, let’s promise never to bring it up.”
“I promise.”
The moment they finished talking, they rushed into April’s room, neither knowing who moved first.
Pezin Dieus had never once doubted his willpower in his life. If it weren't for this wicked witch, it seemed he never would have felt that way for the rest of his life.
April headed toward the curtains to block out the sun that was already starting to rise, but Fezin, walking straight ahead, wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her onto the bed.
Laid out on the bed, April’s eyes went wide as she spoke.
“I have to close the curtains.”
“Why?”
“It’s too bright.”
“Your only merit is your face, so why tell me to make it dark…”
When April’s expression hardened at his overly blunt words, Fezin spoke hurriedly.
“I meant the opposite. Not you, me. My only merit is my face.”
“No. Your face isn’t my type, so how is it a merit?”
“Is that so? You felt desire for a man who isn’t even your type. I didn’t know you had such peculiar tastes.”
“…Shut up.”
“Yeah, you too.”
Fezin said that, but his gaze shifted to her chest, where all his nerves had been focused for a while now, and he seemed to have lost the presence of mind to chatter as usual.
April said.
“You’re the one preoccupied with my chest, and yet you frame me by saying I was looking for a cheek on your chest?”
“Now that I think about it, you had one more merit. Congratulations.”
Fezin was slapped by April for saying that, but since he already knew he deserved it, he didn’t care at all. He appreciated her body as he wished, using all his senses—eyes, hands, tongue, and nose.
Fezin suddenly stopped his movements. At the same time he stopped, April’s red eyes looked up at him.
April’s face, with her pajamas loosened, froze his mind.
Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating her face.
April was wondering if Fezin was being overly mischievous and tormenting her. Then, when Fezin, who had momentarily paused, kissed her eyes, April closed them and then pushed him away.
“Don’t do this.”
“What is ‘this’?”
“Don’t make me feel good.”
“Why?”
He asked knowing the reason, and April didn’t answer.
Ignoring her words, Fezin kissed April’s cheeks and neck here and there again. He tried to find out what she liked. The guilt of deceiving her made him even more persistent.
Then Fezin said.
“Wait a second.”
April opened her eyes, which were half-damp with tears, to see Fezin narrowing his brows.
“I hear the sound of a carriage.”
“A carriage? Why?”
This was a place where no one visited.
Thinking that no outsider would show up for a good reason, April also hurriedly sat up.
Fezin’s expression seemed to crumple from the same thought. Or maybe not.
He was gripping April’s hand even as he looked toward the window, seemingly unaware of the action himself.
Fezin threw on a robe haphazardly. He leaned his back against the wall, peered out the window, and clicked his tongue.
“It’s a Grand Family carriage.”
“The Grand Family? Why are they coming here?”
“When a carriage comes from a family with only sons after a banquet is over, there’s only one reason: a proposal.”
“A proposal?”
April’s eyes widened, and she hurriedly pulled her robe shut as she stood up.
Fezin looked back at April and spat out a curse.
Her disheveled hair and flushed face were simply…
He thought to himself that he couldn’t possibly show her to anyone else, but then he quickly realized that he, too, was an outsider.
