Chapter 6

# 6

  1. The Baron family's Crazy Master (6)

At first, Vincent went out to look around the village to get some fresh air, but was attacked by a boy who approached him to sell something. He was careless because the boy looked young. Vincent quickly dodged the sharp blade that was about to pierce his chest, but it grazed his waist. The guard who was with him caught the boy, but he killed himself as soon as he was caught. It was as if he had been trained to do so, and his actions were unhesitating. As a result, they were unable to find out the identity of the attacker.

After that, Vincent became reluctant to go outside. Taking a walk in the garden in front of the mansion was the farthest he would go.

Then one day, Vincent was attacked again while he was alone in the garden. A servant, who was bringing him something to put on because of the chilly wind, heard a scream and ran over, only to find a stranger dead with an iron bar stuck in his chest. The servant hurriedly gathered people when he saw Vincent, covered in dirt and gasping for breath, sitting down.

The attacker was a stranger from outside. They investigated his identity, but everyone said they had never seen his face before. Vincent had fled from the attack, hit the attacker's head once with a stone, and then stabbed him in the chest with an iron bar that was nearby. It could be said that he was very lucky.

However, even after strengthening the security around him and being especially wary of outsiders entering and leaving, he no longer went outside the Separate Residence.

Once, while he was eating, he suddenly felt pain and collapsed. Fortunately, he vomited everything he had eaten the moment he collapsed, so there was nothing seriously wrong with him, but later he found out that the food had been poisoned.

Not long after, a maid was found dead in the forest. She was a maid who worked in the kitchen. It seemed that she had been killed while trying to escape secretly. The culprit was found, but it was not known why she had done such a thing, or who had killed her.

Vincent, who had survived death, seemed to be afraid of eating food after that, and was sensitive every meal for a while, but at some point, he began to refuse to eat altogether.

Since he didn't go out and refused to eat, his condition deteriorated day by day. It would be good if he could go out of his room, but there were many people visiting the mansion, so he was easily seen by people even if he went out for a short time. In fact, he had been caught once when he went out for a while. Fortunately, nothing special happened, but it seemed to have been a big memory for Vincent, so he immediately moved to the Separate Residence and stopped going out of his room.

As he became wary of everything around him, he gradually became emaciated and was said to have developed severe depression.

The fear that someone was trying to kill him.

The fear that he didn't know about it.

If it became known that he had lost his sight, people would surely talk about his qualifications to lead the family. So he made the excuse of recuperation and locked himself in his room. He gradually withered away alone, without meeting anyone or contacting the outside world.

Hearing that, I felt sorry for him for the first time. A disease of the body tends to spread to the mind. Starving in tearing poverty, stealing bread, and then dying. I had experienced that a tired body soon becomes a disease of the mind.

He is a sick person. That's why I tried to understand and accept his sharp temper.

But I couldn't tolerate throwing away food like this. I was angry at his actions. To eat one mouthful of that Rice gruel, I had to be beaten all over and beg, grabbing at his trouser legs. It was precious food.

But that man...

"Bad behavior can only be corrected by scolding. Whether it's a child or an adult, if they do something wrong, they should be scolded. Haven't you been told to cherish food? Or did you learn that because you have so much, you can just throw it away like this?"

"......"

As I pointed out each point, my emotions surged. I, I have to suffer so much that my whole body is swollen to eat just one of those. It was so precious that I was about to cry. But I couldn't cry, even in front of a blind person. I was ashamed.

I gritted my teeth so that my voice wouldn't be filled with tears.

Don't do this. Complaining about who is more unfortunate is the thing I hate the most. Huff, I took a breath and picked up the fallen bowl. Fortunately, it wasn't broken. I roughly wiped the Rice gruel that had spilled on the floor with my apron and got up.

"I'll bring it back. If you're really worried, I'll eat it first and then you can eat it. Am I not capable of doing that much for my cowardly master? If it's hard for you to eat it all, just eat as much as you can and I'll take care of the rest. Would that satisfy you?"

"I won't eat it."

"You're not going to say you won't eat it, are you? I'm saying I'll sacrifice myself for my precious master by eating it myself to see if there's poison or rat poison in it, you're not going to ignore that sincerity, are you?"

Surely he wouldn't be so cold-hearted. I dragged out the end of my words and left the room, tapping the floor.

I went straight downstairs and asked the cook for a new Rice gruel. The cook looked at me pitifully and gave me a new bowl of Rice gruel. I took it and ran back to his room.

I knelt down in front of the bed again. His face turns quickly following my voice. His eyes are still wandering in the air without focusing.

I made a clattering sound so he could hear me and took a bite of the Rice gruel. Then I ate it with a smacking sound, even though there was no need to chew it, and then took another bite and held it out to him.

"Ah— say ah."

But once again, the bowl fell to the floor.

"Dirty."

Thump, thump, thump, the sound of the bowl rolling and my reason snapped.

About half of the Rice gruel had spilled. I picked it up and returned to the bed. He was staring at the floor. He seemed to be watching my movements.

I took another spoonful of Rice gruel and calmly placed the bowl on one side of the bed. Then I pushed Vincent's shoulder and knocked him over.

Vincent, who couldn't resist, was laid down on the bed. I quickly climbed on top of him. I grabbed Vincent's neck, who was stiff with surprise, and put my weight on him so he couldn't escape. I shoved my thumb into his mouth, which was wide open in panic. Then, I shoved a spoonful of Rice gruel into his wide-open mouth.

"Cough, cough!"

Vincent struggled. I suppressed his resisting body with all my strength and spoon-fed him. As a result, my body almost lost its balance several times, and one of his hands, which had escaped from struggling, grabbed the back of my head. My head was thrown back. Tears welled up in my eyes from the pain that felt like my hair was being pulled out, but I gritted my teeth and endured.

He shook his head to avoid the spoon. But my finger was still in his mouth, so he couldn't close it.

I lowered my eyes and quickly put the spoon in according to the movement of his twisting face. Then, I repeated the process of taking the spoon out when it was empty and putting it back into his mouth. All of this was done quickly and accurately. Later, I held the bowl in my hand and spoon-fed him, pulling it to the side for easy feeding. The hand holding the spoon was trembling so badly that I was in trouble.

"Master, I'm so happy that you're eating so well!"

"Cough, you, cough, cough!"

"Yes, you're eating well!"

One spoonful, two spoonfuls, three spoonfuls, I shoved the spoon into his mouth until the half-empty Rice gruel was all gone. In fact, half of it went into his mouth and half of it spilled, but I didn't care.

When the bowl was empty, my body fell backward. As soon as I released my strength from the sense of accomplishment that I had fed him everything, he pushed me away.

I obediently picked up the empty bowl and spoon and got off the bed. I thought my hair was going to fall out. I stroked the back of my head, which was still tingling, and a handful of hair came out. I let out a hollow laugh and turned around, and Vincent, who was grabbing his constricted neck, shouted with a red face.

"You're fired right now!"

"I was just serving you your meal, Master."

"Ha! This is a real crazy bitch! Do you know what you've done? How dare you touch someone's body! Do you really want to die that badly!"

"Did anyone see?"

"What?"

I answered calmly to his question.

"Only you and I were here, so how would other people know? That I dared to put my finger in your mouth and spoon-feed you Rice gruel."

Of course, what I did was really worthy of death. If someone had been watching, my head would have been cut off right away, but right now it's just him and me here. The same was true outside the room. Because he couldn't see, he was so sensitive to even the slightest sound that there wasn't even anyone passing by on this floor.

Besides, everyone who knew him knew about that man's nasty temper even before I came. After all, the other person is a patient who has become as sharp as he can be. He had the qualifications to fire me, but his words alone were not enough to fire a servant.

"Oh, you had a gun. You could have killed me with it. But Master, does that gun even have bullets in it?"

"......"

He shut his mouth tightly. A look of embarrassment flashed across his face for a moment. I thought so. It was definitely the time to shoot, but I wondered why he didn't shoot. I barely suppressed a snort and continued.

"By the way, I heard that it's not easy to find people these days because there's a rumor that you're a very picky person. Including the already hired servants, everyone shakes their heads when it comes to serving you, so there's no one to do it properly. Even if you fire me, there's no one to replace me right away, so you'll have to be with me until you find a servant to serve you. Forever, if you never find one!"

I blew out a breath. The disheveled bangs lifted slightly in the wind and then fell back down. Through them, I could see Vincent grinding his teeth. He had a frustrated look on his face.

Looking at him like that, I smiled brightly.

"Please take care of me in the future, Master."

After that day, the power struggle between him and me continued.

I forcibly shoved food into his mouth when he didn't want to eat, and I had to have a long argument every time I changed his clothes or changed the sheets or bedspread. One day, I tried to coax and appease him to wash his smelly body, but in the end, when it was no use, I tried to forcibly take him to the bathroom, but I was hit in the face on his arm and bled from my nose.

I came out holding my nose, which was bleeding, with my apron, and met Isabella. My body stiffened, and she scanned me indifferently, holding my nose, and then turned away without saying anything. How long had she been standing here? Had she heard the sounds in the room? No, I realized that she had already noticed my actions from her appearance.
