Episode 1

Let’s Start by Planting a Death Flag

So, this story began when my dearest father kidnapped a boy.

“Father, who is this? He’s a bit different from the playthings we’ve seen so far.”

“He’s the son of an insolent mongrel. I brought him here to teach him a lesson.”

I recognized who the boy was at a single glance. A person radiating such an overwhelming presence was bound to be a main character of this world.

“Then may I play with him? I’m quite good at teaching lessons now, too.”

“Me too, me too!”

Taking after our father, my rotten younger siblings chirped greedily like baby birds staring down prey.

“Lock him in the dungeon until he becomes a little more obedient.”

Following Father’s command, the subordinates grabbed the boy by his hair.

He was bound hand and foot in Anti-Monster Restraints, with even a gag shoved into his mouth.

Yet the fierce spirit radiating from him was formidable, hardly believable for someone dragged alone into the jaws of death.

Even as he was dragged away toward the underground dungeon, he glared fiercely at my family to the very end. The murderous, piercing gleam in his eyes sent a chill straight down my spine.

“Oh, this toy looks like fun.”

“I want to play with him soon~.”

As I mentioned before, I already knew who he was.

None other than the female lead’s older brother, Cassis Pedelian.

Unlike my younger siblings who were chattering in excitement, only a single thought filled my head.

Wow. I am so utterly fucked.

This damned father of mine went right ahead and planted a death flag on me.

I Don’t Want This Kind of Reincarnation

Of course, I didn’t know this was the world inside a book from the very beginning either.

I died in a traffic accident in the dead of winter, amidst a raging blizzard.

I had been wrestling with my graduation thesis and was heading home late from the library when a car skidded on the snowy road and plowed into the sidewalk. And out of sheer bad luck, I happened to be walking right there.

That was how I died, and how I was reincarnated. Well, I’ll spare you the tedious details of my past life and skip over it.

It wouldn’t be very interesting anyway. Besides, reminiscing and yearning for the past now wouldn’t do me a bit of good.

And what mattered here wasn’t what kind of life I lived in my previous existence, but rather what a godforsaken hellhole I had been reincarnated into.

The beginning was surprisingly not bad.

“A daughter this time. With Asil as the elder brother, it is just perfect.”

The first voice I heard upon being born was Mother’s, gentle and warm.

From the sound of it, having already birthed a son before me, she had wanted a daughter for her second child.

Of course, the fact that I had died and been reborn was quite a shock, but I accepted reality rather quickly.

What else could I do? I was already dead, and no matter how much I wished for it, I could never go back to the past.

Besides, I had always been fairly adaptable.

My new mother was a breathtaking beauty. With sweet, honey-blonde hair that looked like melted pure gold and deep blue eyes like a lake, she was as lovely as a princess out of a fairy tale.

Wow, to win a beauty like this. My father must be an incredibly lucky man.

I had quite a weakness for pretty faces, and I had always preferred admiring pretty unnies over handsome oppas.

Moreover, whether she was of mixed blood or not, my mother possessed a truly flawless beauty blending East and West.

Day after day, I marveled at Mother’s face.

“So, is this the child?”

Yet as it turned out, my father had an appearance even more striking than Mother’s.

“She seems to take after you a great deal.”

The moment my eyes met those of the man with black hair and red eyes, I couldn’t help but be startled.

He was striking in a rather different sense from my mother.

Whether because of his exceptionally sharp features or the distinctly extraordinary aura he gave off, he left an intensely unforgettable impression.

He was remarkably handsome, but the heavy atmosphere hanging around him seemed to overshadow his good looks.

“Yes, but her eyes are red, just like yours.”

My mother spoke with a pure, delicate smile. At this rate, I began to look forward to my own looks.

With the genetics of these two, wasn’t it only natural that I would grow up to be stunning?

“Roxana.”

Yet the gaze Father cast over me as I lay cradled in Mother’s arms was somehow lukewarm.

“This child’s name shall be Roxana.”

Having given me nothing more than a name, he turned around and walked straight out.

Come to think of it, this rotten father of mine hadn’t visited me even once before my vision cleared.

Even the look he just gave me was so utterly dry and devoid of warmth, it was hard to believe he was looking at his own daughter.

To think such a cold-blooded man is my father.

“Roxana. My pretty baby.”

Mother seemed slightly disappointed, yet soon looked down at me with her usual clear, bright smile.

“You must grow up healthy and strong, and become a splendid Agriche.”

Right at that moment, a strange sense of déjà vu struck me.

Agriche… That name sounds familiar.

At any rate, seeing that even Father looks like that, was I reincarnated in a foreign country?

The language they spoke didn’t seem to be English, but since I could understand it effortlessly, it seemed I had received something of a reincarnator’s buff.

However, sleep washed over me so quickly that I couldn’t ponder it for long. They said babies sleep a lot, and it was true. Mmm. Rocked by Mother’s gentle pats, I fell into a deep slumber.

Back then, I had no idea just how vile and monstrous this Agriche family I belonged to truly was.

Nor did I know that I had been reincarnated in an utterly absurd place.

Though even if I had known, there wouldn’t have been a single thing I could have done about it.
