7 - Never Let Go of a Black-Haired Dad
Episode 07. Side Story: We, the Emily Squad of Flowers
==========
I am a mid-level Emily, having been called Emily fifty-two times by Her Highness the Princess.
This is my third year in the Princess's Palace, and I've gotten the hang of things to some extent.
Her Highness is healthy as ever today. Her life's direction has changed recently, but it's nothing particularly significant.
Thanks to Her Highness's aunt, Lady Kajelnu Roroe, Her Highness had been extremely conscious of decorum and appearances.
"Your Highness, the weather is lovely today. How about going out for a flower viewing?"
"No. Interrupting the flow of my studies would not be beneficial to me."
"Your Highness, if you ask His Majesty, he might let you have what Trimuti was playing with."
The expression that she desperately wanted to play and the way she held back when she wanted something were both obvious, but I and the other Emilys kept our mouths shut and followed Her Highness's words.
That's what a lady-in-waiting is. We don't do anything our master doesn't order us to do. In other words, we achieve whatever our master commands.
When Her Highness ran towards the elephant slide, I and the other Emilys inwardly cheered, thinking that the moment had finally come.
That's right, isn't Her Highness still young? She should play when she's young. No matter how you grow up, I'm sure you'll be 115,000 times better than His Majesty is now. So play to your heart's content.
Her Highness, who had been holding back everything, exploded all at once and even got into a brawl with Trimuti on the day she conquered the elephant slide.
I wanted to grab Trimuti and help Her Highness beat him freely, but we had no choice but to stay still since Her Highness didn't order us to.
The imperial family's direct heir must have her reasons. She must have wanted to win the fight on her own.
Having read her mind, we didn't say words of encouragement out loud and only shadowboxed in our minds.
Hit him there, Your Highness. Hit his vital points.
That's it! Good, a bloody nose!
'If you make his nose bleed, it's as good as winning!'
Her Highness won the fight and remained composed even when she was moved to prison by order of His Imperial Majesty.
Accepting the impulses of a child while also accepting the consequences with such composure. It was something that an ordinary five-year-old could never do.
As expected of the direct heir. As befitting the successor who carries the 500-year history of Kisomalos, her mindset was different from the start.
So we, the Emily Squad, decided to dedicate ourselves even more to assisting Her Highness the Princess.
Of course, we had been sincerely devoted until now, but as Her Highness became more proactive in everything, we also worked proactively as the proud Emily Squad of the Princess's Palace.
First, we decided to foster a sense of belonging among the palace staff and show off to the surrounding servants and maids.
We serve Her Highness Vishnuhel, who will become the future ruler of the Empire. Our guaranteed future was different from those who served the setting sun, the Emperor.
Of course, if we said the words "setting sun" out loud, we would be beheaded, but we had never said it out loud even once, so there was nothing to worry about.
If a person goes around showing off, the people around them will think they're great.
And if the people of the Princess's Palace show off as a group, people are bound to mistake that the tide has changed.
Once this kind of trend is created, it's easy to get expensive items from the imperial treasury.
The best items and the best food in the palace had to be used for Her Highness the Princess.
Using them for the Emperor's lover, who would stay in the palace for at most two or three years, was like casting pearls before swine.
As a result, clashes often occurred with the palace staff of the Empress's Palace. It hadn't escalated into physical fights yet, but it was only a matter of time. A fight could break out at any time.
That thing that all the palace staff working in the imperial palace secretly promised, without the knowledge of the high-ranking members of the imperial family.
If there's a fight, it'll be at 9 PM under the arch bridge of the Summer Palace.
Someday, a war will break out with those bastards. We prepared thoroughly for it, following Her Highness's orders as usual and training in our spare time.
When we wake up in the morning, we all think of Her Highness the Princess and do 100 gratitude punches.
After finishing that routine, I was preparing to do laundry at the laundry place when I quickly bent down. It was to hold back my laughter.
A sound like "Peeeeeeee-" came from somewhere. I turned my head because of the sound, which I couldn't identify as a whistle or anything else, and burst out laughing.
Vishnuhel Roroe Kisomalos, the direct heir of the 500-year-old dynasty, appeared riding a tricycle in a bizarre outfit with a crown on her head and a glittery cape on her back.
That wasn't all. She was wearing a Groucho glasses on her face and had a strange whistle in her mouth that stretched out into three strands when blown.
"Are you waughing?"
"Keuheup! Keuheuheup!"
"Do you think Nemi is a clown?"
"N-No, no, I don't, keuheuheup!"
"Nemi thinks I'm a clown!"
"I deserve to die!"
This was my fault. I should have bitten my thigh to draw blood and not laugh. I was guilty of a great sin for laughing.
I knelt on the floor with a thud and waited for punishment. Then Her Highness got off the tricycle herself and uttered noble words.
"I will whip you five times!"
"Your benevolence is boundless!"
She's been saying the word "whipping" a lot lately.
Surely she doesn't remember that incident, does she?
The thought of that incident made me stop laughing.
I meekly held out the back of my hand to Her Highness.
Every time Her Highness said, "One, two," I made all sorts of exaggerated noises, and after witnessing that I was suffering enough, Her Highness told me not to do it again and sat back on the tricycle.
The late First Emily was the leader of our ladies-in-waiting and a loyal confidante of Her Highness the Empress.
She was often with Her Highness the Empress, so it was inevitable that she would catch the Emperor's eye.
The Emperor ordered Emily to come to his bedchamber, and when Emily refused him, she was severely beaten. Afterwards, her wounds festered and she eventually passed away, which greatly shocked Her Highness the Princess.
Her Highness lost the lady-in-waiting she relied on the most and cried as if the world was ending. It was only natural, as she had spent the most time with her besides Her Majesty the Empress.
Her Highness the Princess, who had been sobbing without breathing and even had a seizure, was bedridden for two days, and after that day, she forgot about Emily's existence. Instead, she started calling all the ladies-in-waiting working in the Princess's Palace "Emily."
"Hey, you son of a bitch! Keep your eyes where they belong!"
"I deserve to die, Your Highness!"
"Ttareuryu, ttareuryu, if you don't move, you're dead."
Hmm... It's a relief that Her Highness is healthy.
Is it because Lady Kajelnu is in charge of education? Her mouth seems to be very... foul.
Perhaps because that person kept calling His Majesty a "blockhead," most of the words Her Highness used to refer to His Majesty were "blockhead."
Moreover, Lady Kajelnu had been on the battlefield for a long time, and perhaps because of the atmosphere of the Roroe family itself, she often had "fuck" and "shit" on her lips. So there was no way it wouldn't affect Her Highness.
Well, it's much better than her being intimidated by His Imperial Majesty's lover.
As she grows up and makes friends her age, she will naturally pretend to be innocent. I hope that Lady Kajelnu, who is in charge of education, will bring in candidates for friends who are refined and gentle.
I started doing laundry while practicing downward strikes.
We, the Emily Squad of Flowers.
We do whatever Her Highness commands. If she doesn't command it, we don't move no matter what.
Our will is Her Highness's will, and Her Highness's will is our will.
But we will not lose in the fight against the Empress's Palace bastards.
I shouted "Euratcha!" and attacked the laundry with a knife-hand strike.
