Chapter 10
Husband is the Protagonist - Episode 10
My husband leisurely curved his eyes at me.
That appearance was very awkward, unlike him, as if he was forcibly trying to persuade me.
"Once you go inside, I'm sure you'll like it, my lady. Properties with furniture and household goods as perfectly optioned as this mansion don't come around often."
"......"
"And those sheep over there are also ours."
"Excuse me? The sheep too......?"
I looked where my husband was pointing. The dozens of sheep I had seen while riding in the carriage were grazing.
"Su, surely......"
"I was surprised too, just like you, my lady. Isn't it really generous? The previous owner gave them to me as a service, thanking me for buying the house."
"......"
Is that something to praise so much?
He's being generous to the sucker who's going to live with a ghost.
Maybe those sheep are haunted too.
I felt dizzy again.
My husband, seemingly unaware of my condition, said,
"When it dawns tomorrow, I will catch one as a reward for you, my lady, and grill it."
"......Who?"
"Who else is here besides me?"
"Yes?"
At that moment, I was so surprised that I almost forgot my fear of ghosts.
"You? You directly?"
"Yes."
"Alex can't even kill an ant!"
It was partly because he couldn't handle weapons at all, but he deliberately didn't kill living things.
He ate animal meat as food, but he couldn't kill them himself, perhaps because he was too soft-hearted.
"......Ah."
My husband made a face as if he hadn't even thought of that.
Soon, he stroked his chin and pondered for a moment before opening his mouth seriously.
"There's nothing to eat even if you kill an ant, is there?"
......What?

My husband is strange.
I passed through the front door with the feeling of being shot by a gun.
My husband, who can't easily touch anything with life, no matter how insignificant, is going to catch a sheep and grill it for me?
He doesn't kill ants because there's nothing to eat?
There's no way my husband could say that.
I felt like my head was freezing, wondering if a person could change this much.
But I soon regained my composure.
'......Right. My husband did something commendable for the first time since we got married.'
It's worth giving him ten praise stickers.
If it weren't for my husband, we would have been kicked out of the inn and really ended up on the streets.
Even though he suddenly became strange, I should be very grateful, definitely......
I tried to calm my mind and stepped through the open door.
I was nervous and anxious.
It wasn't just because of the ghost.
What would the interior look like?
I couldn't help but wonder.
Since it's a sheep-farming house, the interior would probably be simple and made of dark wood.
Since it's an old-looking house, there would be many worn-out places here and there.
I can never expect a fancy Chandelier and artwork, but since people lived there until yesterday, there probably won't be cobwebs or dust.
"......"
I swallowed hard and stared at the house as if a newborn baby was looking at the world for the first time.
The first thing that came into view was the mysterious and elegant color like mother-of-pearl.
I squinted slightly, dazzled, and looked for where this light was reflected from.
But surprisingly, the floor of the mansion and the stairs leading to the second floor were decorated with Mother-of-pearl marble floor.
The interior was filled with a brilliant radiance that I could never have imagined just by looking at the exterior.
"Wh, what is all this......"
Was the previous owner a millionaire or something?
I approached the center of the lobby and looked around.
A Crystal chandelier that seemed to pour out light was reflecting the pink sunset on the ceiling, and the candlesticks and doorknobs were silver.
It can't be compared to the mansion of the duke family where I originally lived, but this place was overflowing with its own cozy wealth everywhere.
"Oh my gosh, it's so pretty......"
I lost everything and was kicked out, but miraculously, the new home I got is such a mansion.
An undeniable impression and admiration overflowed from my heart.
I really liked this house, where sheep roamed and even the scenery was perfect.
'Is there perhaps a way to live peacefully with the ghost......?'
While I was lost in a blissful thought with my hands clasped in my chest, my husband said.
"I knew everyone would like it."
I blankly turned my gaze towards my husband.
I almost closed my eyes the moment I saw my husband.
A radiance that he never had before was emanating from him.
There were many times when his appearance was dazzling, but now a real light was gushing out that couldn't be compared to before.
"Alex, you......"
"......"
"Thank you. I didn't really think you would get a house. And such a wonderful house at that......"
I barely moved my lips with a feeling of wanting to cry.
He looked at me a little awkwardly, and then gave me a small, awkward smile.
A feeling that I couldn't express in words filled my heart.
Not only my sister-in-law but even my mother-in-law couldn't believe in him.
Actually, I didn't completely believe in him either, but he got such a wonderful house......
I resented him for trying to abandon me and run away from this hopeless reality alone.
But seeing him finally get a new home, it felt like my disappointment and resentment towards him were melting away.
Squeak......
While I was facing him with tearful eyes, I heard the sound of the front door opening carefully.
My heart almost dropped, wondering who it was all of a sudden, and then I saw the face of the person who peeked out.
It was my sister-in-law.
......Ah, she's back.
Before I could even feel relieved, my mother-in-law shouted.
"Eloy!"
"......Ahem!"
My sister-in-law coughed awkwardly with an embarrassed face and came in, looking elsewhere.
Her cheeks were dry with tear marks, as if she had been crying somewhere.
'She came back sooner than I thought.'
I was secretly worried that she was really running away from home this time, but it's a relief.
My sister-in-law looked around the interior with a blank expression, and then her eyes slowly widened.
"What, here......?"
Then she jumped up as if she had been electrocuted.
"It's so nice!"

'Well, now you can look around the house. There are many rooms, so choose the one you like.'
'I will, Alex. Before that, everyone must be hungry, so should I prepare a simple meal first?'
'......Yes. Then I'll leave it to you.'
"......"
Fortunately, the family members seemed to be in a pretty good mood.
Alex was relieved that they liked the house.
They almost ended up on the streets, but they solved the problem of where to stay.
They were people who had nothing to do with him, but he couldn't ignore his weak family members.
'Anyway, it's only a matter of time before they find out that I'm not the real Alexis.'
He thought that on the way to the bathroom.
He had almost been caught twice already.
He was suspected of being good at talking just because he spoke normally, and Luise was greatly surprised just because he said he would catch a sheep for her.
He managed to get through it each time, but he had no idea what else he would be suspected of in the future.
At this rate, it would soon be revealed that he was not the real Alexis.
'From the beginning, hiding it is impossible.'
If he knew what kind of person Alexis was, he would imitate him, but that wasn't the situation.
With a heavy sigh, he entered the bathroom and took off his clothes one by one.
Thud, thud.
His shirt and pants fell long behind him.
The bathroom felt like the 'Let's Experience Bathing in the 19th Century!' corner of a museum, and it seemed like it was a great relief that it didn't go further into the past.
He turned on the faucet of the bathtub first and approached the mirror.
Even on the slightly blurry surface of the mirror, Alexis's sculpted features were clearly visible.
Again, an appearance that was so similar.
He slowly turned his body left and right to examine it in detail.
His eyes, which carefully examined his body, were slender.
But when he looked closely, there were still different aspects.
Skin as white as if it had hardly been exposed to sunlight, and a body that was smooth and clean without a single scar, as if it had been preciously raised in a greenhouse.
It was completely different from him, who had darker skin and bigger muscles.
'He was a duke, but he really looks like the young master of the Chief State Councillor's family.'
Judging from his wife and family's reactions, it seemed like he couldn't even speak properly.
He doesn't hunt, he can't kill living things, what could he do?
He sighed inwardly and then lowered his body into the bathtub, which was already more than half full of water.
Because the size of the bathtub was very small compared to his height, he had to bend his legs a lot.
