Chapter 2. Experienced Hire (1)
Two years had passed since then.
It might seem like time just flew by, but a baby's life of eating and sleeping was simple, so time passed quickly.
Crawling, sitting up, wriggling and then falling asleep...
Doing it with the body of a baby with no muscles was practically the life of an athlete. I squeezed every ounce of strength from my body, so I had to fall asleep every day as if I were fainting. In fact, babies really do eat their best, move their best, and sleep their best.
'Don't ever say babies have it easy again.'
The results were minimal, but I felt like an athlete who had won a medal. A life of working out until I collapsed every day...
Since all I could do was move this short, weak body, I moved diligently.
The only thing that allowed me to endure that simple and boring life was my Healing power.
Forget the mobile.
Forget the simple and repetitive mobile.
From now on, it's the world of Healing Clay...!
For two years, I had nothing else to do (it sounds so pathetic when I say it like this), so I played with this new toy until it was worn out.
Gathering it in my hands and kneading it, making it into a bear shape for no reason and hugging it...
All the fine motor skills exercises I needed back then were done with Healing Clay. Like Clay with glitter on it, it clumped together when touched and felt like flour dough, making it perfect for hand exercises.
Brain development, fine motor skill development! Two birds with one stone!
Thanks to the health of Bailey, Maria, and Ella, who took care of me, as well as my Dad and Mother, I couldn't test the abilities of the Healing Clay, but now I could gather light fragments with even a tiny bit of "Ki."
Filling my playroom with Clay was now a piece of cake. I tried gathering it once, and I stopped because it felt strange to cover the entire mansion.
The Clay used to heal Mother was about half of the playroom... I had grown quite a bit.
'Ki sounds a bit strange, but I couldn't think of any other name for it.'
The power that surged from inside my body, something invisible.
I knew my naming sense was terrible, but I didn't know the exact term, so I couldn't help it. Healing seemed to be the power of Clay gathered through Ki, so I didn't know any other characteristics.
My Healing power seemed to be a different power than divine power or Mana.
'Mother is an ability user.'
It turned out that Mother was a famous Magician.
From the day I poured light fragments into Mother and fell asleep, Mother tried to figure out the nature of my power.
She secretly conducted research through acquaintances, but the result was one.
No one knew.
'Maybe it's because I'm a reincarnator.'
That was the only reason I could guess. It might be an ability I gained after regaining my memories when I was about to die. But I couldn't tell her this, so I decided to keep my mouth shut.
'I thought this was magic, but I guess not.'
How embarrassing.
Mother seemed worried that my power would cost me something, but I was only using a tiny bit of Ki.
'Judging by the fact that I fell asleep back then, I guess it uses stamina.'
If I could heal others by using a little of my stamina, wouldn't that be great?
I'm already 3 years old.
2 years and 6 months since I was born!!
I was reborn as a baby, but with the dignity of an experienced hire, I was able to crawl, get up, and even run! At this point in time! I!
'I want to try it out!'
I'm itching to! I want to go out!
I jumped up. I stood up resolutely, but that was just an image in my head. In reality, I slowly got up. Ah, safety first...
One, put your hands on the ground and stretch your legs.
Two, lift your hips and stand up!
Just do it naturally in a connected motion.
'I can't just jump up yet because my head is too big...'
It was a humiliating tragedy of a 3-headed figure.
Ella, who found me standing up, said.
"Shana, are you bored with playing with blocks?"
"I don't wike dis."
I knocked down the wooden blocks stacked on the second floor. The blocks collapsed with a crash. Ella muttered sadly.
"Oh dear, your Dad made these blocks himself..."
"So I pwayed wif dem. I don't wike dem anymowe."
Humiliating lisp...
Even when I tried to pronounce it correctly, my dull tongue still didn't move as I wanted.
When I was Han Yeon-ah, I was often told that I could be an announcer. Of course, only Dad, who was crazy about his daughter, said that. Oh, our Yeon-ah could be an announcer. His nagging is etched in my heart, really...
"Then shall I read you a book?"
"You'we gonna wead me baby books!"
"That's not true. It's a very interesting fairy tale!"
"...You wead dem all to me awweady... I know dem all."
I stared at Ella with cold eyes.
Strict nanny Bailey, cute youngest Maria, meticulous and kind Ella. They are the people I know as well as my parents since I was born into this world. The time I spent with them easily surpasses my parents. Ella avoided my cold gaze and said.
"Then an adventure story..."
"I memowized dat too. I can wecite it."
I was sick of all the stories that started with "A long, long time ago."
When was that long ago? What year exactly, and what are the birth and death years of the characters?
Even though I knew it was a fairy tale, it was absurd, but the fairy tales in this world were even more so. Because the basics are fantasy.
Adventure stories had a spoonful or two of exaggeration from Chinese martial arts movies... Oops, I spilled it all! That was the level.
But surprisingly, the stories that Ella read in a soft voice by my bedside were a great help in understanding this world.
Just when I thought a princess would be kidnapped because it was a fairy tale with dragons, it ended with, "So the dragon's bones remain deep in the Kalanippa Mountains."
I thought the elf story was about fairies living somewhere, but elves actually live in the forest... The dwarf story said, "This is a dwarf product!"
As I listened, I became more confused about what was real and what was fake, and I wanted to know the truth.
So dragons really exist? Where do they live? Where exactly is the forest where the elves live? Bring me a map. The dwarves made it, so where is the certificate attached? Can you tell if it's a dwarf product just by looking at it? Isn't it a scam? I heard there are Shifters. Do all animals have Shifters? Surely even rare animals have them? Is the transformation free?
'How great would it be if I could ask all of this.'
The reality is, it ends with, 'Do dwagons weawwy exist?' Sigh...
'Ella and Maria laughed so much that I didn't speak for the next two days...'
I wasn't very mature either.
"Our Shana is so smart..."
"I don't wike being pwaised. So magic..."
I'm curious! I'm dying of curiosity!
I was born into a world where magic actually exists!
My Mother is a Magician!
Why do I have to live without even seeing magic!
I haven't even seen it, let alone learned it...
"No. Madam has absolutely! Ordered us not to give you difficult books."
"Mean..."
When I pouted my lips and muttered, Ella was on the verge of bursting into laughter. She's holding back because she's worried that I'll be upset if she laughs here. It's okay to laugh. I'm an adult, so I'm not hurt by that.
"Anyway, it's difficult for us to read it all to you. We don't even know what it means, and we can't even read the Runic."
"Hmph..."
I was studying letters, but I didn't have enough materials. I hate fairy tales. I'm tired of them.
'Isn't there a pre-learning culture here...'
There's a student here who's willing to learn! Why don't you teach me quickly! I've never wanted to study as much as I do these days, both in my past life and in this life.
Besides, this body I was reborn into seemed to be born with a smart head. Thanks to my head that memorized things quickly with just one look, I was able to easily memorize the letters of this world.
Of course, being able to memorize and read it is different from reading it out loud...
But I studied the letters and read the fairy tales on my own, no one made me do it. I'm glad I'm smart...
Ella, who seemed worried that I was too depressed, looked at my face.
"If you're really curious, why don't you ask your Dad directly?"
"Dad?"
"He will never refuse Shana's request."
Ella whispered. Her cheeks were slightly red, as if she was worried that she was giving immature advice that Maria would give.
"But..."
He would never do anything that Mother would hate.
What if they have a fight because of me?
"And if Madam asks you to ask her because you're too curious about magic, she won't be able to help it, will she?"
"...Weawwy...?"
"Of course! I guarantee it!"
I wouldn't trust Maria's guarantee, but Ella's guarantee is a bit more reliable...
"If Shana says "I wanna see Shana!" with a smile!"
"......No......"
3 years into baby life, I hate acting cute to death! I have the pride of an adult...
But the advice to try to win over Dad instead of Mother made sense.
"Whewe's Dad?"
"If it's now, he's probably in his study?"
"Okay, I'm going!"
"Wait a minute, Shana! Together..."
"Alone!"
"You can't!"
"Don't fowwow me! Don't, okay?"
"Oh, dear..."
Ella sat still and waved at me. It was because she knew that I was safe wherever I went in this mansion. This whole mansion is my playground. This area is all mine. I'm the baby of this area...
'I can run!'
The joy of running on my own two feet! At the age of 3, I realized how grateful I was for this trivial act.
If you know the frustration of not being able to stand up or walk straight no matter how hard you try, you can't help but be grateful... I took a step with determination.
Squeak!
Ah, why is there something like squeaky shoes here too!
