30 - I Healed the Male Lead's Trauma
Episode 30
5. The Female Lead Didn't Need a Male Lead (6)
The crystal grew rapidly to the size of a palm, then solidified, blocking my path.
Before I could widen my eyes, the irregularly shaped magic blocked the bullet.
Crack, crackle!
Thanks to it, I was safe.
As the crystal shattered, I landed on the floor and swung electricity toward the man with the gun.
When he dropped the gunpowder-smelling, ink-black barrel, I kicked it far away.
"Akteon!"
In the meantime, Akteon had knocked out another guard rushing at him.
Akteon, who surrounded the Prince Isidor's henchman, who had dropped his gun and become helpless, with magic to prevent him from escaping, said,
"I almost got hit."
"What? Where..."
"Not me, Senior."
Compared to his calm and composed appearance, his magic was fluctuating erratically.
The sound of his magic solidifying and crackling did not allow for silence here.
But I strode towards Akteon.
When I lifted his burning arm, I saw his wrist turning black.
The Control Stone Bracelet's warning, detecting unauthorized magic use, was familiar to me.
But the warning from the bracelet this guy was wearing would be a little different.
"Stop now. It's already a burn. It's really dangerous if you keep going."
At my resolute gaze, Akteon glanced at the henchman with his hands up, then stopped manipulating his magic.
'If he had continued even a little longer...'
It wouldn't have stopped at the current stage of fever, but the very heart that manipulated the magic would have stopped. My heart sank.
'I was careless. I was only going to commit unauthorized actions that would bring in the administrators...'
I felt guilty that I had dragged Akteon into it.
I never imagined that the Crown Prince would allow his henchmen to use force.
My mood, which had already sunk, plummeted further into the darkness.
As soon as Akteon stopped, the henchman slumped down.
His face was filled with clear fear towards Akteon.
I grabbed the henchman by the collar, biting my lip, wondering what to say.
In the end, I couldn't do anything and let go, and he couldn't do anything either.
It was ridiculous to pretend to suspect him of being a spy now.
Rather, I wanted to ask something else.
'Why did he shoot? He was watching us, so he must know about our grades.'
Even if I didn't want to admit it, Akteon and I had manifested as rare S-class Evolved Beings across the continent.
But this man attacked us, who had irreplaceable uses.
This wasn't just anger at a commoner attacking an Evolved Being.
Unmanifested people naturally fear and reject us, who are different from the ordinary.
I can understand.
I, too, am in a position of power, whether I wanted it or not.
There were definitely people who felt threatened by our very existence.
But the one who gave them these orders was Crown Prince Sibelin.
The person who knew our usefulness better than anyone else.
He was someone who could wield, use, or even dispose of our power with his own authority.
'...Anyone could see that the aim avoided vital points. That means.'
He can't kill us.
But it means that he doesn't care if we get hurt, so he can force us to kneel if we disobey him.
The one who brought me back to my senses was none other than Akteon.
"The surroundings are surrounded. It must be the Management Bureau."
"Give me your hand, let's do first aid."
While I took out a transparent disinfectant from my inner pocket and cooled the heat on his wrist, the administrators who had taken over the alley rushed in.
Someone asked, bewildered, as they saw me wrapping the wound with a handkerchief instead of a bandage.
"Liliop Ortiz Cadet?"
"Yes?"
I answered reflexively, then became bewildered myself.
Why does her face look familiar?
Akteon, who recognized her first, nodded silently.
And he whispered to me.
"She's the one who came to the mansion before. When Senior collapsed due to my First Manifestation."
'You couldn't possibly remember.'
Akteon added, but I thought I knew who she was.
That person had come when I reported Count Lorraine even before the First Manifestation.
To think that the culprit of the unauthorized action they encountered as soon as they rushed to arrive was me and the new S-class Transcendent Being.
She also had a bewildered expression.
She sighed deeply, as if she was annoyed that she had encountered my third violation.
And she gestured to the Crown Prince's henchmen we had captured.
"I'll give you time to explain what happened."
My anger, which had subsided a bit due to Akteon's injury and the appearance of the administrators, answered briefly.
"They're spies."
The henchman, who was in his right mind unlike his unconscious colleague, protested.
"Spies? We're...!"
"They showed suspicious behavior from the plaza. I'm sure the administrator knows. Akteon Brondearne next to me is a Transcendent Being who has newly registered as an S-class. Spies from enemy countries may approach him at any time with the aim of enticing him, as he will be a great asset."
Even if I conveyed distorted information, he couldn't easily refute it.
"And when we chased them, they ran away without revealing their identities, and in the end, they attacked us first. We were just responding justly."
The man, who couldn't finish his sentence, glared at me and Akteon as if we were monsters.
With just this one word, the administrator quickly took the henchman into custody.
'They won't be able to reveal their identities in front of us.'
As soon as they arrive at the Management Bureau, they'll be released under the name of the Crown Prince.
While one unconscious man and the henchman were being interrogated, the administrator, who glanced at Akteon's wrist, said,
'She didn't even care when I was hurt last time.'
Perhaps conscious of Akteon's grade, her colleague who came with her was busy treating the guy's wrist.
"I'll hear the details at the Management Bureau. But since this is the third time, it won't be easy to get off."
With a stern warning, she took us to the Management Bureau in the next district.
Now it was time to use the second method prepared for Crown Prince Sibelin.
* * *
The consequences of my and Akteon's unauthorized actions could be quickly confirmed in less than two hours.
I heard someone's voice and the administrator called me.
"...Count Esire. He was sent by His Highness the Crown Prince."
The Crown Prince had kindly sent his aide to pick us up.
Although I had committed unauthorized magic use, I, who had become a model Evolved Being who had caught spies, greeted him with a fake smile.
"I'm sorry to see you in this state. Is His Highness very angry?"
"...His Highness is proud of both of you. He was very pleased, saying that you have a deep loyalty to the country."
Akteon curled up the corners of his lips.
It was a pity that Count Esire didn't see it.
'Anyway, he's resenting us.'
He must have been indignant, not pleased.
His Highness, who had to send his secretary directly as a price for dragging his feet without even sending a carriage, must have found me annoying.
But what I had planned was not yet over.
While Count Esire was giving us sarcastic apologies, a face I hadn't seen in a while appeared in front of the temporary detention room.
Blair's face was full of annoyance.
It reminded me of when I first met him at the Management Bureau half a year ago. He seemed to be in a bad mood this time because he had to take care of a bastard out of nowhere.
"Young Master. What is all this commotion?"
"Commotion? I was just doing what I had to do."
"Don't say such nonsense. The Duke laughed it off, but His Highness won't. Don't cause trouble for the Duke's family."
Akteon shrugged and shook his head at me.
Blair, who was taken aback by Akteon's brazen denial, paused.
He had belatedly recognized Count Esire and bowed his head.
"I apologize for my rudeness. I am working as the head butler of Brondearne. The Duke says he is sorry for causing such an unprecedented incident."
"Ha, to say he's sorry, I've already heard the words that came out of your mouth, and you're pretending not to know. Enough. It wasn't a deliberate act, and the details will have to be discussed later."
Apologies and lectures were exchanged without any reflection of our intentions.
Count Esire seemed to have decided to release us first.
But given the Crown Prince's personality, he wouldn't release us right away.
The Crown Prince would probably withhold the order to come to the Royal Palace and keep us here. About a week to fifteen days.
'By the way, he's late. Is he going to appear like the main character at the very end?'
It's not like he's not coming.
The very fact that I was caught by the Management Bureau again was a kind of signal.
Count Esire, who had decided what to do with our fate, threatened us.
"Even if it was out of loyalty, unauthorized magic use is an act that goes against the orders of His Majesty the King..."
While he was speaking, the entrance of the Management Bureau became noisy.
Count Esire frowned, about to continue speaking, not even dreaming that someone else would appear.
"The fate of the two will be for fifteen days..."
"Count."
"It's no use trying to impose punishment now. His Highness also..."
"His Highness, are you talking about my brother?"
Count Esire doubted his ears at the title that should not be used here.
In the direction he turned, the royal family's troublemaker, with his gorgeous blond hair swept back, was being attended to by Blair.
"...Prince Isidor Your Highness?"
"Oh, why are you so surprised? It's not like I've come to a place I shouldn't be."
"No, it's not that, but what brings you to the Management Bureau...?"
"I guess so? Do I need a special reason to come here?"
His Highness the Prince, smiling brightly, patted Count Esire on the shoulder.
"Since my beloved cadet has been detained, I had to come. I owe him a debt, so I have to repay it."
And he turned to me.
"Isn't that right? Cadet Liliop."
