Chapter 8
3. With a Man Who Hates Me on a Deserted Island
The sun was setting as I came down from the mountain. It was too late to find a new place to sleep right away.
In the end, we decided to spend one more night on the beach where we had slept last night.
"I need to escape this island as soon as possible. I should scout the island whenever I have time."
I nodded in agreement to Enoch's muttering. Scouting the island was essential for me too.
"Okay. We have a lot to do. Should we get something to eat first? At this rate, I think we'll starve to death before we can even escape the island."
Calories are consumed even when performing simple actions such as sitting and standing.
If I don't get proper calorie intake today, it will be difficult to survive on this island from tomorrow. If I don't have the strength, I won't be able to deal with the Monster properly, of course.
"Ah. By any chance, do you know how to make a fire?"
Enoch was silent for a moment at my question. But unexpectedly, he gave an affirmative answer.
"I know how. I was stranded during the Romallizan Battle."
Romallizan Battle, stranded.
Just hearing those two words, I could hardly imagine what kind of experience he had. It seems like there will be no male lead in this novel who can match Enoch's survival skills.
For now, I put aside my thoughts and made a Spear with Enoch. After we finished making the Spear, I decided to hunt in the sea and Enoch would make a fire.
"Wait, the Young Lady is going to hunt?"
As I touched the Spear and prepared to hunt fish, Enoch looked at me with an unbelievable expression.
I had experienced Spear fishing when I went on a trip to the tropics and ended up experiencing the outback.
'Back then, I was hunting in a river, not the sea...'
It's not like I have no experience at all, so wouldn't it work out somehow?
"Trust me."
I patted my forearm and smiled confidently.
But of course, Enoch didn't look like he believed me.
I thought it might be better for Enoch to hunt and me to make a fire, but making a fire requires more strength than I thought. You have to make a fire by rubbing a hard wooden stick against a soft piece of wood with a straight groove, which took more strength than I expected.
Fishing doesn't require strength, but it's okay because you can cover it to some extent if you have the knack for it.
"Well, if I fail to catch fish, I'll collect seaweed or shellfish. When the tide goes out on the coast, you can collect Limpet or Chiton by clearing the rocks."
I rolled up the hem of my dress, which was torn up to my calf, a little more and tied it up.
The skirt was rolled up above my knees, revealing my bare legs, and I saw Enoch quickly turn his head. His earlobes seemed to be red...
Why is he acting so shy? Has he never seen a woman's legs before? I tilted my head, picked up the Spear, and headed to the beach.
First, I need to find a place where the water can't drain out and is stagnant.
So, I first looked at the crevices of the rocks where the waves were crashing. As expected, small fish washed in by the waves were flapping around.
I picked up the fish, crushed them with a stone, and scattered them in the sea. It was to lure bigger fish to hunt. After a while, the fish gathered.
Watching the gathered fish, I timed it and plunged the Spear into the water.
I failed the first few times, but after repeating this about twenty times, I was able to catch two fish that looked like Bitterling.
I've been thinking since I enjoyed hardcore camping in Korea, but I think I'm made for the wild.
I don't know why I'm so happy about this when I'm not Bear Grylls, but the sense of accomplishment was enormous.
