With determination, I lifted the lid of the box, but with a clatter, the latch along with the hinges fell to the floor all at once.

Kaiden, who had run up from behind, picked me up and slung me over his shoulder, then ran as far as possible with Enoch and Luzef to avoid the toxic gas.
