Chapter 37
Even though I told him I wasn't Lady Flone, he still called me Lady Flone.
Yeah, I knew he wouldn't believe me. I picked up the Spear and shrugged at him.
"You thought I was a wild animal, didn't you? Well, who told you to sneak around and peek like that?"
Luzef was still pure and pretty. But he had such a fierce personality that it was hard to get close to him. Even the female lead, Yuanna, had quite a bit of trouble becoming friends with him.
"Who's been peeking, you say!"
Luzef shouted like a scream, then stopped abruptly.
He scanned me up and down with a surprised look for a moment, then looked over my shoulder.
There, the fish I had caught were scattered on the gravel.
"But did you really hunt fish?"
At his question, I tilted my head with a puzzled expression. He stared blankly at the fish scattered on the gravel.
He must have been watching me catch fish in the water.
"Lady Flone really hunted... I can't believe what I'm seeing. This is absurd. Even a passing demon would laugh."
Luzef babbled and scanned me as if he were out of his mind.
'Even a passing demon would laugh. That's too much.'
But suddenly, a terribly low voice came from behind me.
"Who's peeking at what?"
It was Enoch.
An unrefined, sharp gaze turned to Luzef.
"Long time no see, Bishop. If you value your life, you'd better shut your mouth."
The voice, murmured lowly, sounded like a beast growling.
If a person could be torn apart by voice alone, Enoch probably would have torn Luzef apart long ago.
"Crown Prince?"
Luzef looked at Enoch with disbelief.
Enoch and Luzef reacted as if they were meeting each other for the first time on the island.
It seemed Diego hadn't told the group that he met Enoch periodically.
"There's no one else?"
"That... I don't know."
It seemed he had hidden his group from Enoch as well.
Diego was one of those who wanted to monopolize the Saintess Yuanna, so it was understandable.
'There's something wrong with someone who lies to monopolize one woman, yeah.'
And it was much later that I learned that the 'problematic person who lies to monopolize one woman' was Enoch.
"How did Your Highness get here...? No, why are you with such a witch-like lady? Did that witch do something to you?"
Luzef said, glaring at me with a fiercely distorted face. I'm so sick of hearing the word witch.
"I suspected something from the moment she asked me to make a Love potion. There's no normal person who tries to win someone's heart so easily. You witch! Tell me what's going on!"
"Haa..."
I pressed my temples with a tired face, and finally loaded the Flares and pulled down the hammer.
"Bishop? Are you going to keep making such a racket?"
And I pointed the muzzle of the Flares at Luzef.
"You know what this is, right? Bang!"
When I pretended to pull the trigger and shoot, Luzef's face turned white.
"If you know, shut up and put your hands up. Before I shoot."
It was a line I had always wanted to say before I died.
Luzef knelt down with a humiliated face and raised both hands. His pure white cleric robes were a mess, but his water-colored hair looked as smooth as silk.
His drooping eyes made him look gentle, but you can't judge a person by their face. To have such a dirty temper with such a pathetic face.
"As expected, this witch...!"
Thwack!
Luzef couldn't finish his sentence. Kaiden kicked him in the back.
"Ugh."
Kaiden smiled as he stepped on Luzef's back.
"You wanna die? I hate clerics anyway, you know?"
Kaiden's words reminded me that there was a historically deep rift between Wizards and clerics.
"What is this, it's even a bishop's robe? An archbishop? Wow... Did you crawl in here wanting to die by my hand?"
As Kaiden continued to speak, Luzef's face, which was being stepped on, was miserably distorted.
"You dirty Wizard...!"
Come to think of it, clerics treated Wizards as humans with corrupted souls.
Wizards were similar to scientists in modern times, and they did all sorts of research.
Wizards wouldn't hesitate to do anything for research, even human experimentation.
In fact, the temple also conducted experiments, but they only conducted experiments in the shadows, pretending not to while outwardly criticizing Wizards.
Naturally, Wizards loathed such clerics.
Enoch, who had been quietly watching the two's war of nerves, sighed.
Just then, Luzef was subtly getting up and straightening his clothes.
"Hey, lackey. Who told you to get up?"
When Kaiden tapped him on the shoulder, Luzef's face twisted fiercely.
Commonly, when clerics humble themselves, they say they are servants of God. So Wizards would use the word 'lackey' to demean clerics.
"Shut your mouth, you loser."
At Luzef's words, Kaiden burst into laughter.
"Anyway, lackeys don't even know how to swear."
"Don't put you and us on the same level. It's low-class."
Luzef said, gritting his teeth and glaring at Kaiden.
Kaiden picked his ear and nodded insincerely. That made Luzef even more angry, which was probably intentional.
I stood with my arms crossed with Enoch and watched the two fight, then asked Luzef.
"Are you alone?"
As I recall, Luzef was with Yuanna's group.
Luzef, who had been arguing with Kaiden, turned to me with a face flushed with excitement.
"No, I have a group."
As expected, he's with the female lead.
"But why are you wandering around alone?"
At my question, Luzef's face turned red in a different way this time. He glanced at Kaiden and Enoch for a moment, then looked over my shoulder.
Puzzled, I turned around, and at the end of Luzef's gaze was the fish I had caught earlier.
"To find something to eat..."
Luzef said hesitantly.
"...Actually, I haven't eaten anything but fruit for days."
And as if he was ashamed of that fact, he subtly looked at us.
"Originally, I hunted small animals like rabbits, but I haven't seen any animals that can be hunted these days. No one knows how to hunt fish..."
No one knows how to hunt fish.
Only then did I remember that the male leads on that side were only the Imperial Guard commander, a clergyman, and a Crown Prince. Well, there's no way they would have hunted fish...
"Want me to share some fish?"
At my question, Luzef's face brightened. But he soon switched to alert mode when he met my eyes.
"No, but is Lady Flone really the Lady Flone I know?"
Is that a must-say line for the male leads who meet me for the first time? Is it on a list of questions they have to ask?
"Whether you know Lady Flone or not, what does it matter? Either way, you won't see Margaret after today."
At Enoch's chilling murmur, Luzef was flustered and shut his mouth.
'You won't see Margaret after today.' It sounded like he was going to kill Luzef.
What is she, Medusa? Do people who see Margaret even once die?
I found that funny and laughed without thinking.
Grumble.
And in the silence, a loud noise demanding food came from Luzef's stomach.
When we all looked at Luzef at the same time, he panicked and lowered his head with a bright red face.
It was almost sunset, so it was about time for us to eat dinner too.
I grilled the fish I had hunted earlier over a bonfire, and Luzef, who saw it, widened his eyes with a curious expression.
"So you grill fish like this and eat it."
Luzef smacked his lips as he spoke, seemingly unaware that he was doing so.
He must have been so hungry... Food is so important.
Feeling a little sorry for him, I forgot that he had called me a witch. I handed him another fish from my share as he hurriedly swallowed the grilled fish.
He thanked me repeatedly with a touched face.
As expected, there's no pride in the face of hunger. To gratefully accept the kindness of someone you hate.
Luzef eventually finished his meal with a satisfied face after eating even Enoch's share of the fish.
